Dostoyevsky

Here is something completely different. I just finished reading The Brothers Karamazov and decided that I wanted to try and design a new book cover for it.

I first drew the heads and did the lettering by hand using pen, brush, and ink. I then scanned them into the computer and played around with the colours as I arranged them in Photoshop. Whenever I do a project like this I am quickly humbled by how little I know about Photoshop. I can make something work, but I go about it in a rather gruesome way. I need to check out some books from the library.

Overall, though, this was a good experiment in combining both freehand and digital work.
